Problem
Cineplex.com is used to book movie tickets online for Cineplex theaters. Presently with the cluttered user interface and inefficient user flow, the existing ticket booking experience has become complicated.
Role
UX & UI Designer
I acknowledge that I am not aware of existing technological restrictions or additional business objectives. I have focused on redesigning the UI (keeping brand guidelines in mind) to improve online booking experience of Cineplex.
Solution
Redesign the ticket booking experience on the website to make it more streamlined and easier to use.
Identifying key issues with the current website:
You will find with each identified problem there will be a solution presented below it.
Problem 1
-
No consistent quick access button to view seat availability for showtimes.
For the movie, Venom (see image 1) there is no button to view seat availability. This same issue is found across many movies.
But in some cases (see Gif 1) a quick access button to view seat is there which when clicked opens a separate window, but tabbing between the showtimes to see seats is not a quick process.

Solution 1
-
Quick switch between various showtimes in a single window
Through clicking or tabbing between various showtime a user can see real-time seat availability without switching over different windows, thus helping him decide quickly with a glance which time and seats to choose.(Gif 2)

Problem 2
-
Can't select all seats in one click
When selecting multiple seats when booked together, a user has to select each seat individually (See Gif 3). Leading to extra time spent on the selection page.

Solution 2
-
Select Multiple seats with one click
With one click you can select seats together, instead of selecting each seat. Here (See gif 4) the user wants to book two seats.

Problem 3
-
Cluttered interface leading to complicated user flow
Current interface has duplicate information, limited user control & flexibility, inefficiency with prioritization of information.

Add Scene points & donations

Solution 3
-
Booking simplified with minimalistic layout and prioritized content
The new interface is based on existing brand guidelines, focusing on a clear hierarchy of content to give the user a simpler flow path. Quick booking summary integrated into navigation to highlight and inform on completion of a step. A user can easily modify, by quickly accessing each module.
